Happy New Year

Greetings from Shine Village

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich. But as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in our love for you—see that you excel in this act of grace. As it is written, “Whoever gathered much had nothing left over, and whoever gathered little had no lack.”
Shine staff work so hard to organise this annual event and again this year they served the community bringing together the young children, their parents and community leaders to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Children attended from three Shine Early Years and gift purchased during the christmas season helped to provide the food and gifts needed.
Our After-school children, students and our Shine Village girls all helped retell the Nativity story, along with the children from families living in nearby villages whom we support throughout the year. It was such a wonderful time for all the children, they were filled with joy and laughter as they played games together and watched various performances and of course as they enjoyed their Christmas cake and popcorn. Some children did face painting for the first time too! The ongoing work of Shine Early Years helps to prepare children aged from 2-5 years for school and parents also learn so much from our team as they share their lives with them, taking action when needed, and responding to needs. Suzen and Hastings who oversee the project have an incredible heart for this community and the grace of God on their lives is being multiplied through them and through their team, impacting so many lives.
I want to say a big thank you to all those who have contributed towards this event and have prayed for our children. They are so grateful to God for you. They learn from you how important it is to give to others. Happy New Year to you all. We look forward to what God has in store for us all in 2019.
Suzen Zidana.
