23rd March 2023 data shows the number of displaced people in Southern Malawi is at 563,771 with 577 camps set to accommodate the displaced.

The death toll is 511, with 1332 injuries recorded. The number of reported missing persons is still at 533.

The Malawi Defence Force (MDF), the Malawi Police Service (MPS) and the United Kingdom search and rescue/recovery teams continue their operations. The MDF is also airlifting relief items, medical supplies, and personnel to places not accessible by road. The helicopters dispatched by the governments of the United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Zambia continue airlifting relief assistance to areas that are inaccessible by road and water. The national inter-agency assessment team, which has been supporting affected councils with assessments to establish the total number of affected people and their immediate needs, finalised their mission on March 24th and the data will inform the finalisation of the response plan. Praying that all needs are recorded and for President, Dr. Lazarus government to know Gods wisdom

Together with foreign missions and their governments, the local and international organizations, companies, and individuals of providing various support – may God direct us all to the affected people. Pray for Hastings and Suzen as they head it up starting with a visit on 25th March to the evacuation camps to deliver supplies and gather data – some camps in Shine region are yet to be recorded.
