Wakefield 8 Mile Walk raises over £500

Super Hero Walk Wakefield 8 Miles on 23rd June 2018 at Anglers Country Park Haw Park Lane Wintersett Wakefield

Many thanks to Wakefield organisers David and Marjorie Ogier and Paul Wood who planned out both walks which enabled all abilities and families to take part! They received a lovely Malawian top each and all participants were awarded a Super Hero certificate!

“The Wakefield Walkers are officially Shine Super Heroes carrying their lunch in the traditional fashion for over 8 miles raising over £500 at the last count! This figure will help us towards our summer target of £3000 which will help provide resources and transport for Shine Village and community visits 😊Visit our fundraising page for more vents coming soon!

Shine Relief Trust’s heart is to seek justice for the poor and to see renewed hope and vitality brought to the poverty stricken rural communities in Malawi. Shine is currently working in Malawi, one of the world’s poorest countries, in TA Kuntumanji in Zomba District, one of the poorest districts were amongst a population of 72,000, 1 in 6 were found to be orphans. Shine’s Vision is to see community transformation and establish an orphan care village with a school, medical facility, a business hub and training centre. Housing for 32 vulnerable children providing essential care for children at risk giving them chance to flourish in a family setting and learn key skills for a better future. This is Shine Village! Shine Relief Trust UK was established in 2008 with work on the ground commencing in 2010.
