This year we are excited to be taking our Shine fundraising walk further afield to Wakefield! The theme this year is all about bringing out the hero in us all! A 8 Mile Walk may just be the challenge you need and if you want to take it a step further sign up for our Malawi extra Challenge which will be to carry a basket or bucket as far as possible, balanced on top of your head!
These events are always great fun and with goody bags for those who raise more than £25 the competitions on to raise vital funds for the coming year!

The walk:
From Anglers Country Park through Walton Hall along Old Canal Path
Along old railway line bridal way to Wintersett
Returning to Anglers Country Park
Long walk (8 miles) Short walk (3 miles)
Walk will last approx. 4 hours stopping at a café/ packed lunch on the old canal path. There are toilets. No pushchairs allowed
What to bring
water/drinks, food, snacks, sun hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, sunglasses, waterproof jacket, suitable footwear (trainers/boots), own essential medication and minor first aid items (e.g. plasters), mobile phone, waterproof bag/rucksack to carry everything in
Footwear
This walk should be done in sensible/sturdy shoes, if you choose to walk parts in barefoot you can do so at your own risk.
Please take into consideration the guidelines from the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.
Refreshments are available to purchase from the café at the start/end of the walk. Hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, cakes and heartier meals. Water bottles will be available to buy for £1 from our team.
