Flood Relief distribution February 2015

February Flood Aid Distribution to vulnerable families from 5 villages: Kumbwani, Bimbi, Lundu, Ndumba, Luwambe who are all from TA Kuntumanji.

All the families received 50kg maize, mosquito nets, blankets and soya piece packets.

Mr Chirwa Director of Public Development (DPD)District Council, Zomba, Social Welfare Worker Ms D. Dambo and Ward Councilor Mr Chipeta attended the distribution.

Repairs to homes – plastic sheeting and roofing have been provided.

Shine is currently working in Malawi, one of the world’s poorest countries, in TA Kuntumanji in Zomba District, one of the poorest districts were amongst a population of 72,000, 1 in 6 were found to be orphans. Shine’s Vision is to see community transformation and establish an orphan care village with a school, medical facility, a business hub and training centre. Housing for 32 vulnerable children providing essential care for children at risk giving them chance to flourish in a family setting and learn key skills for a better future. This is Shine Village! Shine Relief Trust UK was established in 2008 with work on the ground commencing in 2010.
